Zimbabwe’s renowned gospel group, Zimpraise, experienced a disappointing turnout at their weekend show at Harare Gardens. Despite featuring a star-studded lineup, including Dorcas Moyo, Everton Mlalazi, Pastor G, The Unveiled Choir, and Jonah Chivasa, the event saw a sparse crowd gathered to worship through song and dance.
The VIP area, which had more chairs than fans, was occupied by performing artists, and the high gate charges may have deterred many from attending. Showbiz analysts attributed the poor attendance to the show’s timing, coinciding with the end of the month when people are preoccupied with school fees and other financial obligations.
The choice of venue also raised questions, as Harare Gardens is commonly associated with free shows, particularly for the homeless. This is not the first time an event at this venue has experienced low attendance. Last year, Werraz Entertainment faced similar challenges when hosting Alick Macheso, Mathias Mhere, Dorcas Moyo, and Silent Killer.
However, there were some highlights during the night. Dorcas Moyo delivered a refreshing performance, showcasing her exceptional stage presence, energy, and delivery. Pastor G also impressed with his artistic flair, backed by his group’s seamless performance. The Unveiled Choir continued to captivate the audience, solidifying their growing appeal.
