ZRP Launches Manhunt for Assistant Inspector Who Stole Police Ford Ranger

Police in Mashonaland Central are on the trail of one of their own after a senior officer allegedly vanished with a marked patrol vehicle.

The suspect, named as Assistant Inspector Mandizvidza, is accused of taking a Ford Ranger with full police colours from Police General Headquarters in Harare and disappearing.

According to an internal police memo dated August 13 and seen by ZimLive, law enforcement across Mashonaland East has been told to be on high alert. The district police boss in Mazowe instructed all stations to set up roadblocks, patrols, and intercept the vehicle if spotted.

The memo stated that Mandizvidza is believed to be in Mashonaland Central and that officers should arrest him on sight and hand him over to CID Bindura.

“May all stations in Mazowe district be on the lookout for ZRP Ford Ranger Reg 033 with police colours being driven by Assistant Inspector Mandizvidza. The vehicle is stolen at PGHQ (Police General Headquarters) by A/Insp Mandizvidza and is believed to be in Mashonaland Central province. Stations to mount roadblocks and patrols to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle. If located arrest and detain for CID Bindura,” the memo from the Mazowe district police chief said.

Police have not revealed exactly how the mid-ranking officer managed to take the vehicle from headquarters without being stopped.
