2 275 Ford Rangers Recalled Over Potential Side Curtain Airbag Safety Risk
Owners of 2 275 Ford Ranger Double Cab vehicles have been urged to take their vehicles for inspection after a safety recall was issued.
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) announced the recall on Sunday.
It affects selected Ford Ranger Double Cab models from the 2026–2027 production year.
The affected vehicles were sold across South Africa between 22 May and 23 June 2026.
Some of the vehicles were also exported to Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.

Airbag defect could increase injury risk
The recall centres on a potential problem involving the vehicles’ side curtain airbags.
According to the NCC, the airbags may come into contact with the B-Pillar trim when they inflate.
This could prevent the airbags from deploying as intended during a crash.
The problem could also cause the B-Pillar ramp to detach from the vehicle.
The component could then become a projectile when the side curtain airbag deploys.
This creates an increased risk of injury to people inside the vehicle.
Owners urged to visit Ford dealerships
Owners of affected Rangers have been advised to contact their nearest authorised Ford dealership.
The vehicles will be inspected and repaired where necessary.
The NCC said consumers will not have to pay for the corrective work.
The commission urged owners not to delay in contacting Ford.
“This recall affects a safety-critical component of a significant number of vehicles. Owners or users of these vehicles should contact the supplier without delay,” said Acting Commissioner Hardin Ratshisusu.
NCC to monitor recall
Ratshisusu said the commission would continue monitoring the recall process.
“The NCC will be monitoring this and other recalls to ensure all affected vehicles in South Africa are attended to,” he said.
