Four Killed After Kombi Side-Swipes AD Van

Four people have died following a road accident involving a commuter omnibus and an AD van near Prince of Wales along the Mutare-Chigodora Road on Monday afternoon, 7 September 2026.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the fatal crash, saying the kombi was reportedly overtaking other vehicles when it collided with the AD van at a curve before leaving the road.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the crash are still being established, while the number of people injured had not yet been confirmed.

The ZRP said:

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which four people were killed after a Commuter omnibus side-swiped an AD van and veered off the road near Prince of Wales, along Mutare-Chigodora Road.”

Police added that the driver was reportedly attempting to overtake when the collision occurred.

“The driver is said to have overtaken other vehicles at a curve and side-swiped an AD van before veering off the road.”

The police said further information would be released as investigations continue.

The crash adds to concerns around road safety, particularly where overtaking is attempted at bends or curves.
