Horror In Guruve: Five Family Members Slain, Police Hunt “Serial Killer”
A suspected serial killer is on the run in Zimbabwe after butchering five members of the same family. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a massive manhunt for a man now wanted in connection with eight murders following the horrific attack in Guruve.
According to a police statement released on 15 December 2025, the massacre occurred on the night of 11 December at Plot 9, Ona Farm. The ZRP confirmed that a suspect identified as Anymore Zvitsva “allegedly murdered five members of the same family”.
The victims were named as 66-year-old Grace Zvitsva, her 40-year-old son Tendai Zvitsva, her 37-year-old daughter Loice Chiringaushe, and two grandchildren: five-year-old Takudzwa Kariva and two-year-old Tatenda Chirenje.
Neighbour Discovers Bloodstained Horror
The first glimpse of the tragedy came from a neighbour who was woken by noise. The ZRP statement details the grim discovery:
“Upon arrival, the neighbour who was in the company of two villagers observed bloodstains at the kitchen doorstep and found Tendai Zvitsva unconscious and bleeding profusely with deep cuts on the chest.”
The scene inside the house was even more devastating. Police reported that “further inspection revealed extensive bloodstains around the homestead with the bodies of Grace Zvitsva, Loice Chiringaushe, Takudzwa Kariva and Tatenda Chirenje lying in the main bedroom.”
Tendai Zvitsva was rushed to Guruve Hospital but died upon admission. In a small mercy, a search of the property found five other grandchildren unharmed in a spare bedroom.
Drone-Led Hunt For Suspect Linked To More Killings
The manhunt for Anymore Zvitsva has been intensified with significant resources. The police revealed their strategy, stating they are using “the aid of drone technology and manhunt teams comprising Support Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Canine, Horse patrols and intelligence units”. The search is focused on forests and mountains where the suspect is believed to be hiding.
The case took an even more serious turn as police connected the suspect to another unsolved crime. The ZRP statement confirmed,
“The suspect is also linked to the recent murder cases in Zimuna Village, Chief Repura where Pamela Chipangura, Kudzai Chipangura and Tawand Chipangura were killed.”
This connection means Anymore Zvitsva is now a prime suspect in eight murders, escalating the search to capture a potential serial killer terrorising the Guruve district.
The police have urged the public to come forward with any information, providing contact details for the National Complaints Desk. The community remains on high alert as one of the largest police operations in recent memory continues across Mashonaland Central.
