Dual Role in Technical Team
Kamwendo revealed that he will serve as second assistant coach for the CAPS United first team while also taking charge as head of development at the club. The new Zimbabwean football season is set to kick off in February.
“I am head of development and second assistant coach for the main team,” Kamwendo said.
He added that the club’s head coach is Takesure Chiragwi, with whom he shared the pitch during his playing days.
“The head coach is a local guy, Takesure Chiragwi. I played with him as well,” he noted.
Emotional Return to First Professional Club
The 2005 Zimbabwe Soccer Star of the Year said the move carries deep personal significance, as CAPS United was the club that launched his professional career.
“It means a lot because this was my first professional club and this is the team that gave me the opportunity to play in Europe.
“It’s good to come back and contribute towards the success of the club. I’m honoured to serve the team again,” Kamwendo said.
Aiming to Restore Glory Days
Kamwendo also expressed gratitude to CAPS United president Farai Jere for the opportunity, pledging to work towards restoring the club’s past success.
“I thank the club president, Honourable Farai Jere, for giving me this opportunity, and I am going to do my best to bring back the glory days,” he said.
