Zimbabweans Congratulate Divine Lunga After He Wins Man of the Match Award for Mamelodi Sundowns
Zimbabwean footballer Divine Lunga won the Man of the Match award after delivering a commanding performance for Mamelodi Sundowns in their 2-0 Betway Premiership victory over Sekhukhune United.
The Zimbabwe international earned the individual honour despite not scoring, with his all-round display at the back drawing praise from fans both in South Africa and back home.
Late Goals Complete the Job
Mamelodi Sundowns had to wait until stoppage time to break the deadlock, with Nuno Santos opening the scoring in the 91st minute before Brayn Leon added a second three minutes later to seal the win.
While the goals arrived late, Lunga’s influence was evident throughout the match as he marshalled the defence and kept Sekhukhune at bay.
Contract Extension Rewarded
Lunga’s Man of the Match performance came just days after Sundowns extended his contract, keeping him at the club until 2028.
He has emerged as one of the club’s most consistent foreign players, and Tuesday’s award further justified the club’s faith in him.
Mamelodi Sundowns Back on Top
The victory lifted Mamelodi Sundowns to the top of the Premiership standings on 32 points, three clear of Orlando Pirates.
