Bulawayo Man Battling For Life After Being Shot Repeatedly For Confronting Robbers During Home Invasion

Pelandaba West Horror As Man Shot Four Times During Night Home Invasion

A Bulawayo man is fighting for his life after he was shot several times during a terrifying early-morning armed robbery at his home, following a bold attempt to confront intruders who had broken into his property. The shooting, which left him critically injured, has shocked residents and triggered a police manhunt for the suspects.

The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, 29 January 2026, at a house in Pelandaba West, Bulawayo. The victim, aged 33, was shot multiple times after coming face-to-face with armed criminals inside his own home.

Shots Fired During Violent Home Invasion

Police say the drama unfolded at around 2:35am. The man was asleep when he heard unusual noises coming from outside his house.

Introducing the events, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the victim decided to investigate.

“The complainant was awakened by the sound of metal being cut,” Inspector Msebele said.

“He went to check and discovered two unknown male suspects cutting the burglar bars on the kitchen window using a bolt cutter.”

The suspects managed to force their way inside the house. A struggle followed almost immediately.

“A violent confrontation ensued,” Inspector Msebele said.

“The complainant wrestled with one of the accused persons who was armed with a pistol.”

During the struggle, the attacker opened fire.

“The accused shot the complainant once in the inner thigh, once on the back, once on the arm and once on the hand,” she said.

Attackers Flee As Victim Collapses

After firing several shots, the suspects fled the scene under the cover of darkness. Police say it is still unclear whether anything was stolen during the raid.

The badly injured victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Police confirmed the case is being treated as attempted murder and armed robbery. Investigations are ongoing, and officers are hunting for the two suspects.

The incident was first reported by [CITE], which detailed how the confrontation turned violent within minutes of the intruders entering the house.

Police Issue Warning To Residents

As the search for the suspects continues, police have issued a warning to members of the public about confronting armed criminals during home invasions.

“We urge members of the public not to resist when confronted by armed criminals,” Inspector Msebele said.

“Such actions may result in fatalities.”

She appealed to anyone with information that could assist investigations to report to the nearest police station.

Police say further updates will be released as the investigations progress.
