According to court documents seen by H-Metro, on November 11 last year Nyevhe approached Ezra Masame at Red Bull Shopping Centre in the company of three other men.

Nyevhe reportedly introduced himself as an Assistant Inspector in the Zimbabwe Republic Police, claiming he was looking for Naboth Shorisho Chimunhu. Unable to locate Chimunhu at the time, Nyevhe reportedly left.

On the same date, Nyevhe visited Raymond Chimunhu’s home in Mabvuku with two unknown men, claiming to be detectives searching for Chimunhu’s father, who was wanted in connection with a theft case.

When Chimunhu emerged holding a pair of scissors, Nyevhe allegedly assaulted him, handcuffed him, and forced him into a vehicle. He and his accomplices reportedly assaulted Chimunhu on the way to Damafalls, where they failed to find his father. The men then opened Chimunhu’s cellphone, tracked communications with Masame, and proceeded to assault Masame at his home for allegedly obstructing justice.

Masame was later dropped off around 1 a.m., and his handcuffs were removed with a wire.

He reported the incident to ZRP Mabvuku. He was referred to a hospital for treatment.

In a separate count, Nyevhe allegedly called Inspector Nyamadzawo of the Harare Central Investigations Department, claiming to be a Chief Superintendent at the Police General Headquarters, and requested that a deposit fine be accepted for a relative arrested for touting in Harare Central.

The unusual request prompted Nyamadzawo to make inquiries at PGHQ, where it was confirmed that no such officer existed. Subsequent investigations traced the mobile number to Nyevhe, leading to his arrest.
