Reckless Driver Crashes Into Home, Kills 2-Year-Old While Fleeing From Hit And Run Accident In Chitungwiza
According to an official police statement, the tragic chain began on Monday, 3 February 2026, along Chirambahuyo Road. The suspect, identified as Forget Chamuzambara, was behind the wheel of a Mazda 323.
“The suspect, who was driving a Mazda 323 vehicle, allegedly struck a 16-year-old girl who was walking on the roadside.”
Instead of stopping to render assistance, police state that Chamuzambara chose to flee from the scene of this initial collision. It was this decision that led to catastrophe just moments later.
Vehicle Ploughs Into Family Home
In his bid to escape, the driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road, crashing through the gate of a residential property where a 75-year-old woman and two children were seated nearby.
“He lost control of the vehicle and crashed through the gate of a residential property hitting three people, a 75-year-old woman and two children who were seated near the gate.”
The force of the collision was fatal for the youngest victim. The police confirmed the two-year-old boy died immediately at the scene. The elderly woman and the other child suffered severe head injuries from the impact.
Emergency services rushed to the property on Chirambahuyo Road. The police update detailed the aftermath, stating the victims were transported to the local hospital.
“The victim’s body was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination while the three injured victims were referred to Chitungwiza Hospital for medical treatment.
Forget Chamuzambara was arrested, and his detention was publicly confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police. He is expected to face serious charges related to both collisions.
