Bogus Cop In Full ZRP Uniform & State Security Agent Arrested With Huge Drug Consignment

A man pretending to be a high-ranking police officer and his accomplice, who is a serving member of the state security services, have been caught red-handed by a national crack team while transporting a large consignment of illegal drugs along the Harare-Beitbridge highway.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police made the announcement in a statement on February 14, 2026, revealing shocking details of the arrest that have raised serious concerns about security protocols and drug trafficking networks in the country.

Disguised With Assistant Inspector Rank

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the dramatic arrest took place along the Harare-Beitbridge Road near Bubi. The two suspects have been identified as Norest Jingura, aged 35, who was posing as a police officer, and Alison Maredza, aged 43, who is an actual member of the security services.

The police post stated:

The ZRP has arrested a bogus policeman, Norest Jingura (35) and a member of the security services, Alison Maredza (43), for drug peddling and trafficking along Harare -Beitbridge Road near Bubi.

What has left investigators stunned is the level of detail in the disguise worn by Jingura. He was not wearing just any uniform. He was dressed in full Zimbabwe Republic Police regalia and wore badges indicating the rank of Assistant Inspector, a senior position within the force.

The suspects were travelling in a Toyota Hilux vehicle with registration number AGP 1412. Police have confirmed that this vehicle belongs to Maredza, the security service member who was arrested alongside the fake officer.

The police statement continued:

The suspects were travelling in a Toyota Hilux vehicle, registration number AGP 1412, owned by the security service member, with the bogus police officer in full police uniform, wearing Assistant Inspector rank badges.

Drug Bust On The Highway

The National crack team, which has been intensifying operations against drug peddling across the country, intercepted the vehicle as it was heading towards Harare. Upon searching the vehicle, officers made a significant discovery that has shocked even seasoned investigators.

Police confirmed the haul:

The National crack team intercepted the vehicle on its way to Harare and recovered 120 cobs of dagga.

The seizure of 120 cobs of dagga represents a substantial quantity of illegal drugs. The street value is yet to be officially determined, but sources indicate it could run into tens of thousands of US dollars.

The involvement of a state security agent in the drug trafficking operation has raised serious questions about the extent of criminal networks operating within the country’s security apparatus. It has also sparked concerns about how widespread such activities might be.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are now being widened significantly. The police force is particularly focused on understanding how the fake officer managed to obtain such an authentic-looking police uniform, complete with rank badges.

The police statement concluded:

The ZRP is now conducting comprehensive investigations to establish how Norest Jingura obtained the police uniform.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police ended their announcement with a firm warning against drug-related activities, simply stating, “No to drug peddling and trafficking.”

Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
