Family Disputes Alleged Motive Over R20 debt
According to H-Metro, the horrific incident reportedly occurred on April 8, when the unidentified 22-year-old suspect killed the 2-year-old boy.
He claimed the child’s mother owed him R20 and had delayed repayment. However, close relatives of the deceased strongly refute this claim.
Funeral Director Calls for Justice after Zimbabwean Man Kills 2-year-old Boy
Greathope Funeral Services director Moreboys Munetsi, who is also a relative, ensured the funeral went ahead despite tensions. Munetsi confirmed the boy’s throat had been cut almost completely.
“Seventy percent of his neck was cut, and the accused claimed that he committed the offence since he is owed R20 by the mother of the deceased. But the mother denied owing him any money,” said Munetsi.
He added,
“It’s a very painful experience to bury a two-year-old child. The little child couldn’t defend himself. Munhu anobatwa nemweya wekucheka huro nebanga.”
Support and Legal Help Pledged
Munetsi vowed to support the grieving mother and her family, both emotionally and legally.
“She wants justice for her child. If they want legal support, I will be there for them. I also believe the family needs counselling after this trauma.”
He further questioned the alleged motive, saying,
“From what we observed, the accused is lying. There are a lot of discrepancies in this case. No pictures were taken from the scene.”
Father Still Waiting for Police Feedback
The deceased’s father expressed frustration over the pace of the investigation.
“I tried to contact the investigating officer over the issue and he promised to come back to me,” he said, adding that the family is still in the dark regarding any significant developments in the case.
