Father From Hell: Kills Own Daughter, 5, After Raping Her Twice
A Mabvuku man has been branded a father from hell after he allegedly raped his five-year-old daughter twice before callously suffocating her with a blanket and fleeing the scene, leaving her little body lying lifeless on the floor.
The horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the community of Mabvuku, a high-density suburb in Harare, where residents are struggling to comprehend the brutality allegedly inflicted upon an innocent child by the very person who should have protected her. Kudakwashe Monga, a 36-year-old father, now faces murder charges after the gruesome discovery at his home last week.
According to court documents, the State alleges that on Tuesday last week, around midday, Monga took his young daughter into his bedroom where he committed the unthinkable. The little girl, whose name has been withheld to protect her identity, was allegedly forced onto the bed by her own father before he removed her underwear and raped her not once, but twice.
Court Hears Chilling Details of Little Girl’s Final Moments
The court proceedings yesterday revealed the disturbing sequence of events that led to the child’s death. After committing the sexual assaults, Monga allegedly took a blanket and covered his daughter’s head tightly before strangling her. The little girl suffocated and died in the same room where her father had just violated her.
Monga appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo yesterday, where he was formally charged with murder. He was not asked to plead to the charge. The court heard that this is a third schedule offence, meaning it is serious in nature and requires careful consideration by higher courts.
Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe outlined the State’s case against Monga. According to the Herald, the court was told that after committing the crime, Monga fled from the scene, heartlessly leaving his daughter’s body lying on the floor as if she were nothing more than discarded rubbish.
Accused Remanded in Custody as Investigations Continue
Magistrate Moyo remanded Monga in custody until next month pending the finalisation of investigations. The accused was advised to approach the High Court if he wishes to apply for bail, given the serious nature of the charges he is facing.
The courtroom was tense as the details emerged, with legal observers noting that cases involving the murder of children by their parents are particularly troubling to the justice system. Monga showed little emotion as the charges were read, staring blankly at the magistrate throughout the proceedings.
The little girl’s mother was not present in court yesterday. Social welfare officials are believed to be providing support to family members as they process this devastating loss. The child’s body has been released to relatives for burial arrangements, though no date has been announced.
Monga will remain behind bars while police continue their investigations. He is expected back in court next month, where the State is likely to outline the full evidence against him, including forensic reports and witness statements.
