Coach Marinica Opens Door for Marshall Munetsi’s Return to Warriors Squad
Coach Marian Marinica has opened the door for Marshall Munetsi to return to the Warriors, saying the Paris FC midfielder remains a key figure in the national team.
The 61-year-old Romanian coach confirmed that he is actively working to reintegrate Marshall Munetsi into the squad ahead of future assignments.

Fallout from Africa Cup Absence
Marshall Munetsi had been sidelined from the Warriors following an injury that ruled him out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Public criticism of his exclusion created friction with both Marinica and the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), with tensions spilling over on social media. Despite this, the coach has opted for a measured approach to ensure team unity is not compromised.
Dialogue and Reconciliation
Marinica has requested a direct meeting with Munetsi to “clear the air” and resolve any misunderstandings.
He stressed the importance of open and respectful communication, emphasizing that such matters are best handled privately to maintain cohesion within the squad.
“First of all, Marshall remains a very important player for the national team. As a coach, I will always want the best Zimbabwean players to be available, and Marshall is certainly one of them,” Marinica said.
Timing of Munetsi’s Return
Although Munetsi will not feature in the upcoming Mukuru Four Nations tournament in Botswana, Marinica confirmed that the midfielder is being considered for the next FIFA international window in June, as Zimbabwe ramps up preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The potential return of Munetsi is expected to bolster the squad with his leadership and work rate in midfield.
Focus on Unity and Long-Term Goals
Marinica underlined the importance of focusing on the bigger picture, including regional tournaments, Africa Cup qualification, and future World Cup campaigns. He reassured supporters that the national team remains open to all committed players.
“My door is always open. The national team belongs to all Zimbabweans, and every player committed to representing the country will always be welcomed,” Marinica concluded.
