Zimbabwe Warriors Lift First Mukuru Four-Nation Cup After Narrow Win Over Zambia
Zimbabwe’s senior men’s national team, the Warriors, secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia to win the Mukuru Four-Nation Tournament, sealing the title in dramatic fashion.
The tightly contested final appeared headed for a draw before a late breakthrough handed Zimbabwe the advantage and ultimately the trophy.

Decisive Moment in the Dying Minutes
The match was decided in the 89th minute when Zimbabwe found the breakthrough through a stroke of fortune. Substitute Junior Zindoga delivered a dangerous ball into the box, which was inadvertently turned into the net by a Zambian defender.
The late own goal proved decisive, giving the Warriors a narrow lead they held onto until the final whistle.
ZIFA Celebrates Historic Triumph
Following the victory, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) took to social media to celebrate the team’s success.
The association shared an image of Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba lifting the trophy whilst standing next to ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi and head coach Marian Marinica.
Accompanying the picture was a message praising the team’s determination and unity, highlighting the pride of representing the nation.

The victory capped an impressive run for Zimbabwe, who recorded their second clean sheet of the tournament after defeating hosts Botswana in an earlier match.
The triumph also marks the Warriors’ first-ever Mukuru Four-Nation Tournament title, a significant milestone that could boost confidence ahead of future international competitions.
