“Ndakubata” Horror: Bindura Woman Jailed After Boiling Oil Attack On Ex-Husband

Bindura Woman Gets 3 Years For “Ndakubata” Boiling Oil Attack On Ex-Husband

A Bindura woman has been sentenced to an effective three years in prison after a shocking revenge boiling oil attack on her ex-husband, leaving him with serious burns following a violent domestic incident on 4 April 2026.

Attack At Family Homestead Turns Violent

The incident occurred in Kufa Village under Chief Musana. The 30-year-old complainant had travelled to his former in-laws’ homestead to visit his child, believing his ex-wife was not present.

After spending time with the child, he later returned to hand him back before preparing to leave for Harare. While seated outside the kitchen area, chatting with his former mother-in-law, the situation suddenly turned violent.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the woman emerged carrying a pot filled with boiling cooking oil.

The authority described the moment of the attack:

“The offender suddenly emerged carrying a pot containing hot cooking oil. She approached the complainant and uttered the words ‘Ndakubata’ (‘I got you’), before splashing the hot oil onto the right side of his face and right hand.”

The complainant attempted to flee, but the assault did not end there.

Second Attack Leaves Victim With Serious Burns

As he tried to escape, the woman reportedly followed him and launched a second attack.

“She followed up with a second attack, pouring more hot oil onto his back and left arm.”

The victim sustained serious burns to his face, hands, and back. He was later examined by medical professionals, and a medical affidavit was presented in court as evidence.

Court Hands Down Effective Sentence

The matter was heard at the Bindura Magistrates’ Court, where the woman pleaded guilty to physical abuse.

She was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, with two years suspended for five years, resulting in an effective three-year custodial sentence.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe condemned the escalation of domestic disputes into acts of violence and warned of stiff penalties.

“The escalation of domestic disputes into acts of extreme violence attracts severe custodial penalties,” the authority said.

Members of the public were also urged to resolve disputes peacefully and to seek lawful mechanisms for intervention rather than resorting to violence.
