Wicknell Chivayo to Gift Dynamos Football Club A New Bus and US$50,000

Dynamos Football Club to Receive New Bus and US$50,000 From Wicknell Chivayo

Businessman and socialite Wicknell Chivayo has announced that he will still buy a brand-new 65-seater bus for Dynamos F.C. despite the club losing its weekend derby clash against CAPS United F.C..

Chivayo made the announcement on Facebook after the highly anticipated Harare Derby, saying his decision was inspired by the loyalty and passion shown by Dynamos supporters.

Promise Stands Despite Defeat

Before the match, Chivayo had reportedly pledged to buy Dynamos a new bus if the club defeated CAPS United. However, after the Glamour Boys lost the encounter, some football fans mocked the promise and questioned whether he would still honour it.

Responding to the criticism, Chivayo said he would not abandon his commitment simply because the result did not go in Dynamos’ favour.

He described Dynamos as one of Zimbabwe’s biggest football institutions and said the club occupies a special place in the country’s sporting history.

Chivayo added that many of his close friends and relatives support Dynamos, making the gesture more personal than competitive.

Players Also Receive US$50,000

In addition to the new bus, Chivayo revealed that he would also give Dynamos players US$50,000 as motivation and appreciation for their effort during the derby encounter.

He stressed that the money and the bus were not part of a sponsorship arrangement, but a gesture aimed at appreciating supporters who filled the stadium and demonstrated loyalty to the club.

The businessman said Dynamos management could immediately engage his lawyer to begin the process of securing the bus.

Calls for Unity in Football

Chivayo also used the statement to call for unity among football supporters, saying sport should promote healthy competition rather than hatred and division.

He expressed disappointment over criticism directed at him on social media, saying people outside Zimbabwe often treated him with greater respect than some locals.

Despite the backlash, Chivayo insisted he would continue supporting initiatives that uplift local sport and honour promises made to supporters.
