The man accused of Mpumalanga businesswoman Renee Lea’s murder is due back in court on Monday.
Lea was from Standerton, but her daughter raised the alarm after she couldn’t get hold of her last weekend, and her vehicle was subsequently tracked down at a petrol station in Moreleta Park.
Her body was found in the boot. She had been bound and gagged.
Twenty-one-year-old Cuan Karelse, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested and charged and made his first appearance in court last week.
Cuan Karelse is facing charges of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
He’s accused of having killed Renee Lea in a home robbery in Standerton, where he’s also from.
He made his first appearance in the dock of the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday last week.
The matter was postponed until this Monday for information on bail, which the State indicated it planned on opposing, and for Karelse to consult with his lawyer regarding a possible confession.
