Our #MCM today is the incredibly talented Joshua Knowledge Chapata, aka Josh Chaps K, a visionary Afro Abstract artist born to a Mozambican father and Zambian mother in Harare, Zimbabwe. From a young age, Joshua’s unique blend of cultural heritage and urban upbringing would shape his artistic perspective.
Growing up in Harare, Joshua was surrounded by the vibrant sounds and colors of African culture. His childhood was filled with creativity, curiosity, and a deep connection to his roots. He spent hours sketching and painting, inspired by the world around him.
Joshua’s academic journey took him to Prince Edward High School, where he honed his artistic skills and developed a passion for music. After completing high school, he took a gap year to explore his creative interests before enrolling in college.
In 2010, Joshua’s mother gifted him a diary, urging him to write his vision. This simple act sparked a chain reaction, leading Joshua to conceptualize Creative Inc, a company that would eventually become a reality. He envisioned a space where art, music, and culture converged, inspiring others to embrace their creativity.
With determination and hard work, Joshua brought Creative Inc to life. Today, the company offers a range of services, including home painting, office revamps, art curating, and skills development in the creativity sector. Joshua’s art therapy sessions have also gained popularity, providing a subtle yet powerful outlet for mental wellness.
Joshua’s artistic style is a testament to his diverse influences. Inspired by West African culture, music, and modern-day griots, his palette often features black, white, and blue, reflecting his unique perspective on the environment. His expertise spans handling art materials, equipment, and facilities, as well as creating motivational art portraits that inspire hope, determination, and courage.
Through his art, Joshua aims to preserve African culture, promote mental wellness, and empower others to embrace their creativity. His journey is a shining example of passion, perseverance, and innovation.
