ZRP Slammed for Delayed Response to Viral Video of Side Chick Being Assaulted as Detective Kedha Takes Charge

Netizens have criticized the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for their slow response to a viral video showing a side chick being assaulted by a man’s wife and two others at a borehole.

Many believe the ZRP is acting too late, as private investigator Tafadzwa Chidawa, also known as Detective Kedha, has already identified and interviewed the suspects featured in the video.

In the footage, the three women confront the victim, accusing her of having an affair with one of their husbands. The alleged mistress is seen being attacked while holding a baby. Some suspects recorded the incident until an unidentified man stepped in.

According to The Herald, police have since arrested several individuals involved in the altercation.

In a statement on the ZRP’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, deputy national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Blessmore Chishaka confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

“Reference is made to a video which has gone viral on social media platforms in which two women are seen assaulting another woman on allegations of having an extra-marital affair with one of the women’s husband. Investigations are in progress,” part of the statement reads.

The ZRP urged the public to avoid resolving conflicts through violence, emphasizing the importance of self-restraint in disputes.

“The ZRP reiterates that the public must exercise self-restraint when faced with disputes or disagreements with friends, relatives or any member of the society. Communities are implored to find peaceful ways of resolving differences or disputes without resorting to violence,” the statement ends.

Despite this, many Zimbabweans have criticised the ZRP’s response as too late. Some pointed out that Detective Kedha had already identified the suspects, and others noted inaccuracies in the police statement, which incorrectly mentioned two attackers instead of three. Here are some of the reactions:
