Zimbabwe Fuel Prices Rise Again As ZERA Hikes Petrol And Diesel Costs
Zimbabwean motorists will pay more at the pump after the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) announced another increase in fuel prices, reversing a series of recent price cuts.
The revised prices took effect on 24 July 2026 and will remain in force for the next two weeks.

Petrol And Diesel Prices Increase
Under the new pricing structure, diesel now costs US$1.95 per litre, up from US$1.87, while petrol has increased to US$1.96 per litre from US$1.93.
The latest adjustment comes after fuel prices had gradually fallen from early June levels. At the beginning of June, diesel sold for US$2.09 per litre and petrol for US$2.08, before easing to US$1.99 and US$1.98 respectively.
Government Says Measures Still Protect Consumers
In a statement, ZERA said the government interventions continue to cushion consumers from the effects of global geopolitical developments on fuel markets.
ZERA also reminded the public that the national fuel blending ratio remains E20 and noted that fuel retailers are free to charge below the prescribed maximum prices where their operating costs allow. Service stations were also instructed to display fuel prices prominently in line with fuel pricing regulations.
Global Tensions Push Oil Prices Higher
The latest increase comes amid renewed volatility in international oil markets.
Brent crude recently climbed above US$100 per barrel, rebounding sharply from around US$71 earlier this month as geopolitical tensions intensified in the Middle East.
The surge has been driven by renewed conflict involving the United States and Iran, including a US naval blockade and continued strikes on Iranian targets, raising concerns over potential disruptions to global oil supplies.
Further uncertainty has emerged after Yemen’s Houthi forces threatened to target vessels transporting Saudi oil through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, adding to fears of supply disruptions along one of the world’s key energy shipping routes.
With international oil prices remaining under pressure, motorists could continue to face uncertainty over fuel costs in the coming weeks.
