Zimbabwean Transnet Executive Shot Dead In South Africa After Dispute Over Houses
A Zimbabwean business executive who spent nearly three decades working for Transnet Engineering in South Africa was shot dead following a reported dispute involving his residential properties.
Jeremiah Madondo was killed on July 19 after an alleged confrontation linked to his houses, according to his family.
Relatives said Madondo was shot six times during the incident, leaving his family mourning the loss of a breadwinner and respected community member.

28 Years With Transnet Engineering
According to H-Metro, Madondo had been part of the Transnet Engineering family for 28 years, having joined the company on January 28, 1998.
At the time of his death, he was serving in an acting capacity as the Corridor Quality Manager for the North Corridor, based in Vryheid, South Africa.
Transnet Engineering confirmed his death in a condolence message, describing him as a valued member of the organisation.
The company extended its condolences to Madondo’s family, friends and colleagues following his passing.
Family Links Shooting To Property Dispute
Family spokesperson Ishmael Madondo said the executive’s death was linked to a dispute involving his residential properties.
He said Jeremiah had allegedly been given notice to remove tenants from two of his houses before August 1, after claims that the properties would be taken over by some South Africans.
“We lost a bread winner, a loving man who has been a source of inspiration,” Ishmael said.
The family spokesperson said they had been informed that Madondo was killed over issues surrounding his three residential properties.
Madondo Laid To Rest In Rusape
A memorial service was held last Friday at King and Queens Dorenfontain in South Africa before his remains were repatriated to Zimbabwe.
Madondo was later buried at the Madondo family homestead in Hayisoswi Village, Rusape, on Sunday.
Family members described him as a dedicated professional and a source of support to those around him.
His death has left colleagues, friends and relatives mourning the loss of a Zimbabwean professional who built a long career in South Africa’s engineering sector.
