Driver Arrested After Police Find Skinned Cow Carcass, Knives And Axe In Honda Fit
A 19-year-old Bulawayo man has been arrested after police allegedly found a skinned cow carcass, blood-stained knives and other tools inside a Honda Fit during a late-night operation. The arrest followed a stop at the Umguza Roadblock as part of Operation Shining Star.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the suspect, identified as Eric Masuku of Gwabalanda, was arrested by ZRP Queens Park on Monday, 28 July 2026. Police said he is facing allegations of contravening Section 114 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23], which relates to stock theft.
Operation Shining Star Leads To Stock Theft Arrest
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said officers intercepted a silver Honda Fit at around 10:30 pm during an operation at the Umguza Roadblock.
Police said a search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of a skinned cow carcass, seven blood-stained knives, an axe and a machete.
A statement shared by the police said:
“A 19-year-old man, Eric Masuku of Gwabalanda, has been arrested by ZRP Queens Park, Bulawayo for contravening Section 114 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23], stock theft.”
The police added:
“The arrest followed an operation conducted at the Umguza Roadblock under Operation Shining Star.”
Two Suspects Flee From Honda Fit During Police Search
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said two passengers who had been travelling in the vehicle allegedly escaped during the operation.
Police stated:
“Two passengers who were travelling in the vehicle allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and fled from the scene. Eric Masuku, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested and is assisting police with investigations.”
Police Continue Hunt For Outstanding Suspects
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said efforts are continuing to locate the two suspects who allegedly fled from the scene.
The latest arrest comes as police continue conducting roadblocks and targeted operations aimed at tackling stock theft and related offences across Zimbabwe.
