Highlanders FC Mourns Again As Finance Officer Sihlalisiwe Mnkandla Dies Days After Executives’ Tragic Crash
Bulawayo football giants Highlanders FC have suffered another devastating loss following the death of the club’s finance officer, Sihlalisiwe Mnkandla.
The latest tragedy has deepened the grief surrounding the historic club, which is still mourning the deaths of three senior officials who were killed in a horrific road accident last month.
Details surrounding Mnkandla’s death were not immediately available at the time of publication.

Club Confirms Mnkandla’s Passing
Highlanders board member Elkanah Dube confirmed the sad development on Monday morning, saying he had received the news from one of the club’s employees.
Dube said he was on his way to the club’s offices to get more information about the circumstances surrounding the death.
“I have just received this sad news from one of our employees. I don’t have full details yet, but I am rushing to the office now where I am sure I will be able to get full details,” Dube said.
He described the loss as painful for the entire Highlanders family.
“Surely this is heart-wrenching for the entire Highlanders family,” he added.
Fresh Pain After Fatal Road Crash
Mnkandla’s death comes shortly after Highlanders lost three members of its senior leadership in a fatal accident on July 23, 2026.
Club chairman Kenneth Mhlophe, vice chairman Sifiso Siziba and treasurer Nkani Khoza died after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway near Lochard/Mbembesi.
The trio had been returning to Bulawayo after attending Highlanders’ Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against ZPC Kariba.
Their Ford Ranger Raptor reportedly struck a cow on the road before losing control, colliding with an oncoming bus and overturning.
A Highlanders supporter, Mbalenhle Sibanda, also died in the crash.
Highlanders FC Family Faces Difficult Period
The latest loss has left Highlanders facing one of the darkest periods in the club’s history, with supporters and officials continuing to deal with the deaths of key figures who played important roles in the running of the institution.
The club is expected to provide further details on Mnkandla’s passing once more information becomes available.
