A 14-year-old Boy commits suicide by hanging after his stepmother beats him for hitting his younger sibling.

The devastating tragedy struck Samanyandwe Village in Mutasa when a 14-year-old boy ended his life by hanging himself from an avocado tree. The incident occurred on April 15 following a domestic dispute involving his stepmother and younger sibling.

Manicaland police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka verified the circumstances surrounding the young boy’s death. According to authorities, the situation began when the teenager, identified as Nenyasha, quarrelled with his stepsister after she damaged his schoolbook.

“The confrontation escalated when Nenyasha physically responded to his stepsister’s destruction of his educational material,” explained Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.

The situation worsened when Nenyasha’s stepmother, Rosemary Zindi, became involved. After striking the boy with her hands, she reportedly left him alone at their home while she went to work in their garden. This separation proved fatal, as the distressed teenager took his own life during this period.

This heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through the rural community, raising questions about domestic conflicts and child welfare in family settings. Local authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding this tragic loss of a young life. Some Zimbabweans suspect that the stepmother has been abusing the boy for some time.

Previous incidents of teens committing suicide

There have been some deaths recently of teens committing suicide. A few months ago, a girl in High school committed suicide because of bullying at her school, leaving a note for her parents. An 18-year-old man also committed suicide in Bulawayo after he impregnated his cousin.
