Marvelous Nakamba Joins Greek Top-Flight Club Panetolikos On Two-Year Deal
Zimbabwe international Marvelous Nakamba has secured a new challenge in Europe after completing a move to Greek top-flight club Panetolikos.
The 32-year-old midfielder has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028, ending speculation over his future following his departure from English side Sheffield Wednesday.

Fresh Start After Short Stay In England
Nakamba joined Sheffield Wednesday in February as a free agent after leaving Luton Town, but his spell at Hillsborough was brief.
The experienced midfielder made only a handful of appearances, most of them coming from the bench, before the club decided not to extend his stay at the end of the season.
Questions were raised over Nakamba’s limited game time, with Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen previously pointing to stiff competition in midfield.
Pedersen said players such as Svante Ingelsson, Jaden Heskey and Jarvis Thornton had performed strongly, making selection difficult.
“There has been a big competition [for places]. Svante has been one of our absolute best players. Jaden has been very strong, while Jarvis, as a young player, has also done well,” Pedersen said at the time.
“Marv is a fantastic guy and has trained really well. He tries to do all the right things, and I was sure there would be more playing time for him.”
Experienced Midfielder Continues European Journey
Nakamba arrives in Greece with vast experience gained across several European leagues.
During his career, he has turned out for clubs including Aston Villa, Luton Town, Club Brugge and Dutch side Vitesse, building a reputation as a reliable defensive midfielder.
He remains a popular figure among Luton Town supporters after helping the club achieve promotion to the English Premier League. Nakamba played an important role during the campaign and converted a penalty in the Championship play-off final shootout victory over Coventry City at Wembley.
Luton Town chief executive Gary Sweet previously praised the Zimbabwean for his contribution to the club’s success.
“Marvelous has been a huge part of our success, a special character who came to add real quality at the time we needed it to help us to promotion.
He has been a pleasure to have around the club, always smiling, even through some difficult periods with injury,” said Sweet.
New Opportunity In Greece
The move to Panetolikos offers Nakamba an opportunity to revive his club career and secure regular playing time as he continues to represent Zimbabwe on the international stage.
The Warriors midfielder will now be hoping to make an immediate impact as he begins a new chapter in Greek football.
