Patience Mangwiro’s Ex-Husband Makes New Claim About Daughter After Muduva’s Death
Patience Mangwiro’s ex-husband, Daniel Zavirima, has claimed he is the biological father of the young girl recently pictured with late Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission Commissioner Martin Muduva, saying he is upset that the child has become part of the tragic events surrounding Muduva’s death.
Zavirima made the claim after Mangwiro shared a photograph of Muduva holding the child, alongside the caption “tichasara nani?” (who will we remain with?). H-Metro reported on 18 September 2026 that the post prompted Zavirima to speak out.
Zavirima Challenges Claims About His Daughter
Speaking to H-Metro, Zavirima said he was certain the child was his daughter and objected to the impression created by the photograph.
“I am very sure that I am the father of Patience Mangwiro’s daughter, the one she posted on social media in the arms of Commissioner Muduva.”
He added that a DNA test could settle the question if his claim was disputed.
“The post suggests that my daughter is Muduva’s child. If the daughter is not mine, then DNA tests will prove that.”
Reports published after Muduva’s death had described Mangwiro and Muduva as having a child. ZBC also reported that their relationship had been part of the circumstances being examined following the deaths.
Zavirima said he married Mangwiro in 2018 and that they held their white wedding in Masvingo in 2019 before separating in late 2022.
Muduva Tragedy Remains Under Investigation
The paternity dispute comes as investigations continue into the deaths of Muduva and his first wife, Lyliosa Chirara.
Muduva died at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals on 9 September 2026 after allegedly suffering serious head injuries during an attack at their Dzivarasekwa Extension home. Chirara later died after allegedly ingesting poison. Police have said investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, reporting surrounding an alleged suicide note attributed to Chirara has added further detail to the case. ZimLive reported on 14 September that the note allegedly referred to Muduva’s decision to marry Mangwiro.
Mangwiro has declined to discuss the matter publicly, while Zavirima’s latest comments have introduced another unresolved question into an already complicated tragedy.
