Mberengwa Woman Charged With Murder After Killing Her Husband With a Farm Brick
A Mberengwa woman is facing a murder charge after allegedly killing her husband during a domestic dispute.
The incident happened at the couple’s homestead on Sunday, with police alleging that Tshuma attacked her husband with a brick during a physical confrontation.
Police Called To Homestead
Thokozani Tshuma was arrested on Tuesday following the death of 61-year-old Manford Mchede.
According to The Herald, police officers who attended the scene found Mchede unresponsive. A blood-stained farm brick was also recovered from the homestead and is believed to have been used in the attack.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said investigations indicate that the couple had a misunderstanding before a physical confrontation broke out.
He said Tshuma struck Mchede several times on the head and face with the brick.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the two were at their homestead when a misunderstanding arose between them. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the suspect picked up a farm brick and struck the victim several times on the head and face,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Post-Mortem Pending
Mchede’s body was taken to Mberengwa District Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Tshuma remains in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
Police Urge Public To Seek Help
Inspector Mahoko urged people involved in domestic disputes to seek intervention before disagreements turn violent.
He said police, traditional leaders and other relevant authorities can assist in resolving disputes peacefully.
