Harare Woman Accused Of Locking Door As Husband Allegedly Raped 10-Year-Old Sister
A 20-year-old Harare woman has appeared in court accused of helping her husband sexually assault her 10-year-old sister on two occasions, with the court hearing that blood was allegedly collected after the first incident.
The woman, from Garikai Whitecliff North, appeared before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa alongside her 22-year-old husband.
Both were remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
10-Year-Old Allegedly Left Alone With Brother-In-Law
The allegations relate to events in August 2026, when the girl visited Whitecliff during the school holidays.
The court heard that, about a week into her stay, the girl was sleeping in a room with her sister’s son when her brother-in-law allegedly entered.
Her sister allegedly locked the door from outside before leaving the two alone.
The man is accused of raping the girl and threatening her with a knife afterwards.
The Herald reports that he then allegedly used a container to collect blood from the child.
The court further heard that the woman later returned, opened the door and allegedly left with her husband while carrying the container.
Second Alleged Assault Leads To Police Report
The man is further accused of returning to the room the following day and calling his wife to lock the door again while he allegedly assaulted the girl.
The child reportedly disclosed the allegations to her grandmother on 15 September 2026.
Her grandmother then assisted her in making a police report, resulting in the couple’s arrest.
The child was referred to hospital for medical examinations. The completed medical report may be presented in court as an exhibit.
The allegations remain before the courts, and the couple has not been convicted.
The case is now before the courts, with the accused pair remaining in custody after their appearance in Harare. Further proceedings are expected to determine the next steps in the matter.
