President Mnangagwa Praises Warriors’ Performance Despite DRC Defeat
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has thrown his support behind the Warriors following their defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the National Sports Stadium on Monday night.
The president was among the high-profile figures who watched the match from the stadium as Zimbabwe battled the DRC in their latest AFCON qualification campaign fixture.

President Mnangagwa Praises Warriors’ Performance
Despite the result not going Zimbabwe’s way, the President praised the national team for their effort and determination against their opponents.
Taking to X after the match, Mnangagwa described the Warriors’ display as a spirited performance and said the players had given everything on the pitch.
“A proud and spirited performance by our national team tonight at the National Sports Stadium.
“While the final score did not go our way against the Democratic Republic of Congo, our players gave everything on the pitch and treated us to a genuinely magnificent game of football. They showed exceptional character, skill, and resilience against formidable opponents, proving that our football is moving in the right direction.”
President Urges Team To Remain Focused
Mnangagwa acknowledged the disappointment of the defeat but urged the Warriors to use the experience as part of their preparations for the remainder of the qualification campaign.
“Defeats are tough, but they are also the foundation of future victories,” he said.
The President also reaffirmed his support for the players and technical team as they prepare for their remaining AFCON qualification matches.
“We stand firmly behind the team and the technical staff as they regroup for the rest of the AFCON qualification campaign,” he said.
Praise For Warriors Fans
President Mnangagwa also thanked the supporters who turned up at the National Sports Stadium to back the team throughout the match.
“Thank you to the thousands of patriotic fans who filled the stadium and roared until the final whistle. Our journey continues!” he said.
