Wicknell Chivayo And Wife ‘Knew Their Time Was Taken’: Makandiwa Reveals

Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has made a striking claim about Wicknell Chivayo and his wife Lucy Muteke, saying the couple knew that their time was limited and were determined to complete their giving and charitable work while they were still at their best.

Makandiwa made the remarks in a statement shared by Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa on Friday, 2 October 2026, two days after the couple died in a helicopter crash near Marondera.

The claim does not mean Makandiwa said the couple knew they would die in that particular crash. Rather, his statement suggests that, in his account, Chivayo and his wife had an awareness that their time was running out and wanted to use that remaining period to help others.

‘The Couple Knew Their Time Was Taken’

Makandiwa said he had spent time with Chivayo and his wife at their home, including sharing supper and having private discussions.

He said some of those conversations would remain confidential.

It was in describing those final interactions that Makandiwa made his most significant revelation.

“The couple knew their time was taken and desired for that time to be while they were at their best.”

Makandiwa then connected that alleged awareness to the couple’s generosity.

“Their giving and helping people was to be completed on time – hence they were in a rush to give and indeed SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST.”

The wording leaves open an important question: what did the couple actually know, and what made them believe their time was limited? Makandiwa does not provide a specific explanation in the statement.

There is also no claim in the statement that Chivayo told Makandiwa when or how he expected to die.

Makandiwa Separates The Claim From Prophecy

Makandiwa also addressed questions about whether he had foreseen the helicopter crash.

He appeared to distance himself from any suggestion that he had complete knowledge of future events.

“I have never seen everything, I don’t see everything, and I won’t see everything, only God does.”

This is important because Makandiwa’s statement contains two separate issues.

The first is his claim about the couple’s alleged awareness that their time was limited.

The second is whether he personally knew about the impending crash.

He did not claim in the statement that he had seen the crash itself before it happened.

Instead, he said the question of whether he had prophetically seen the accident had become less important to him.

Makandiwa focused on what he described as the couple’s determination to finish their work of helping others.

Chivayo’s Final Acts Of Giving

The comments come against the backdrop of Chivayo’s highly publicised charitable giving.

In August 2026, Chivayo gave Makandiwa US$1 million, which was publicly displayed at a United Family International Church service.

Days later, Chivayo also delivered luxury vehicles to Makandiwa and his wife after previously promising them the cars.

Makandiwa’s latest statement now places those acts of generosity within his own account of the couple’s final period.

He said the couple wanted their giving to be completed “on time”.

However, the statement does not establish precisely when the couple allegedly became aware that their time was limited, what they knew, or whether they had any specific expectation of an imminent death.

Chivayo, his wife and three other people died when their helicopter crashed near Marondera on 30 September. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the crash.

Makandiwa concluded his statement by offering condolences to the families of the victims and the Johane Masowe church.

The central claim from the preacher is therefore not that Chivayo and his wife knew they would die in the crash, but that they allegedly knew their time was limited and wanted to make sure their work of giving and helping others was completed before that time ran out.
