Mnangagwa Visits Chivayo Family Home After Tragic Helicopter Crash

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has visited the Chivayo family home in Gletwyn, Harare.

The President went there to mourn businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke-Chivayo.

Three other people also died in the helicopter crash near Marondera on Wednesday.

Mnangagwa arrived at the family home alongside senior government officials.

He used the visit to express his “deepest personal condolences” to the grieving family.

Mnangagwa remembers Wicknell Chivayo

The President paid tribute to Chivayo while reflecting on his impact during his lifetime.

Mnangagwa described the businessman as someone with a “grand vision” for Zimbabwe.

He also said Chivayo had ambitions that reached beyond Zimbabwe and across Africa.

Furthermore, the President highlighted the family’s charitable work across different communities.

Their support, he said, touched areas including public service, religion, culture and sport.

Chivayo became widely recognised for his business activities and high-profile lifestyle.

However, his philanthropic efforts also attracted attention from communities and public figures.

Mnangagwa also remembered Lucy, who died alongside her husband during the crash.

President mourns other crash victims

The President extended his condolences to the families of the three other victims.

They included two helicopter crew members and a security aide.

“During this moment of profound heartbreak, we stand together in unity, compassion, and prayer with the bereaved families,” Mnangagwa said.

He described the incident as a devastating national tragedy.

According to Mnangagwa, the crash left Zimbabwe “numbed and in deep shock and grief.”

Meanwhile, tributes have continued following the deaths of the five people.

Family members, friends and associates have gathered at the Gletwyn residence.

The home has now become the centre of mourning for the Chivayo family.

Authorities have confirmed that nobody survived the helicopter crash.

The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.

Mnangagwa also offered prayers for the grieving families.

He further prayed for the deceased to rest in eternal peace.
