Pitso Mosimane has made a remarkable start to his second spell as Bafana Bafana coach.
The experienced coach has quickly restored excitement around the South African national team.
Mosimane returned to the hot seat after Hugo Broos’ departure following the 2026 World Cup.
However, he faced immediate pressure to deliver results during the September international window.
Mosimane Delivers Three Straight Wins
Mosimane has responded brilliantly, guiding Bafana to three victories from three matches.
South Africa first defeated Guinea 2-1 in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Bafana then beat Eritrea before producing another impressive result against Egypt.
They secured a 1-0 victory over the Pharaohs in Cairo on Sunday night.
Puso Dithejane scored the decisive goal on his Bafana debut. Meanwhile, Shandre Campbell provided the assist.
The victory became even more impressive because Mosimane heavily rotated his starting lineup.
Young Players Give Mosimane More Options
Mosimane used the Egypt match to assess several young and fringe players.
He rested established stars, including Ronwen Williams, Relebohile Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis.
Consequently, younger players received valuable experience against one of Africa’s strongest teams.
Mosimane particularly praised Campbell, Dithejane and Lebone Seema after their impressive performances.
He also believes young players must receive opportunities to develop at international level.
“We need to give them a chance and let them swim with the sharks.”
The coach now faces two crucial AFCON qualifiers against Kenya next month.
Therefore, Mosimane knows his impressive beginning means little without qualification for the tournament.
Still, his three victories have given South African supporters plenty of reason for optimism.
