Zimbabwe has generated more than ZiG220 billion in revenue during the first nine months of 2026. The latest figures put the Government within reach of its annual collection target.
Treasury aims to collect ZiG280 billion by the end of December. Therefore, the latest performance signals progress towards meeting that financial goal.
The strong collections come as authorities intensify efforts to boost domestic revenue. Meanwhile, economic activity continues supporting Government’s efforts to mobilise resources locally.
VAT Leads Zimbabwe’s Revenue Collections
Value Added Tax (VAT) emerged as the biggest contributor to Government revenue during the reporting period. Personal Income Tax followed, alongside Corporate Tax and Excise Duty.
These revenue streams remain central to Zimbabwe’s public finances. They provide funding for Government operations and various national development programmes.
According to the latest State of the Economy Report, the collections reflect ongoing domestic resource mobilisation efforts.
Treasury Confident of Meeting ZiG280 Billion Target
The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion remains optimistic about achieving its 2026 revenue target.
Treasury also views stronger domestic collections as essential for financing development projects. Furthermore, increased revenue could help reduce budget deficits.
The Government also hopes to limit its dependence on external loans, grants and credit lines.
Meanwhile, attention is turning towards the next fiscal year. The 2027 National Budget presentation is scheduled for November 19.
The upcoming statement will outline the Government’s spending priorities and economic plans for the year ahead.
