Zimbabweans Criticize Proton Bakers for Donating Drums to Bulawayo Police Traffic Section

Proton Bakers has come under fire after donating 11 empty drums to Bulawayo police traffic section.

Proton Bakers to donated 11 drums to the Bulawayo police traffic section for use at roadblocks, in a move that has sparked scrutiny and massive criticism from Zimbabweans.

Bulawayo Police Praise Proton Bakers Drums Donation

The Officer in charge for Bulawayo Central Traffic, Chief Inspector Samukeliso Sibanda, praised Proton Bakers for their generous donation, which supports police efforts to enhance public road safety during the handover at the Bulawayo Central Traffic Police station.

“I would like to express my appreciation for the donation of 11 roadblock drums from Proton Bakeries Zimbabwe, which we believe will greatly enhance the safety of our officers managing roadblocks. We have seen an increase in incidents where police officers have been run over, so these drums will improve their visibility, especially at night, as they are equipped with reflectors that can be seen from a distance. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Proton Bakers.”

Zimbabweans Criticize Proton Bakers Roadblock Drums Donation

The move by Proton Bakers to donate 11 drums to the Bulawayo police traffic section for use at roadblocks however attracted massive criticism from Zimbabweans.

Netizens castigated the bakery company for donating empty drums to the police.

Netizens argued that Zimbabwe should move with the times and use more modern traffic stops signs like cones instead of old fashioned drums.

Zimbabweans argued that this was beyond embarrassing and that the donation did not deserve a photo-op.
