Finance Deputy Minister David Mnangagwa’s Driver Found Dead In Hotel After ZANU PF Conference

Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Deputy Minister David Mnangagwa’s driver was found dead in his hotel room early Sunday morning after the Zanu PF annual conference in Bulawayo.

ZimLive reported that the ZRP was called to the Greys Inn hotel after Ishmael Maburisa was discovered unresponsive. Maburisa’s death adds to a series of unsettling events involving the family of Deputy Finance Minister David Mnangagwa, a son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Sources told ZimLive they suspect Maburisa may have died from diabetic shock. Witnesses at the scene described Maburisa appearing at the reception area shortly before his death, pleading, “Get me food, please,” an apparent attempt to address what might have been hypoglycemia or low blood glucose.

In response, hotel staff provided him with porridge, the only available food at the time. Maburisa returned to his room but reportedly began twitching and convulsing soon after, showing symptoms similar to an epileptic episode before he passed away.

Authorities who responded to the scene discovered diabetes medication in Maburisa’s room, which may indicate the driver was managing a chronic condition. An internal police memo confirmed Maburisa’s identity and connection to David Mnangagwa.

However, police have not yet commented on the case, and it remains unclear if the Deputy Minister was still in Bulawayo or had returned to Harare by the time of Maburisa’s death.

This loss follows previous incidents targeting Mnangagwa’s residence in Borrowdale, Harare, which suffered break-ins twice in June this year, on the 23rd and 25th. During the second break-in, the intruders left bullets near his bedroom and outside the house, raising concerns over his security. Days later, on June 28, Mnangagwa’s home was mysteriously set ablaze, though the cause of the fire remains unclear.
