Former Orlando Pirates Star Tendai Ndoro Hospitalised in South Africa as Health Worsens
Former Orlando Pirates and Zimbabwe international striker Tendai Ndoro is reportedly in a serious condition and currently hospitalised in Durban, South Africa, as he battles diabetes.
Loan Dispute Sparks Public Reveal
According to Nehanda Radio, a leaked audio recording reveals that Ndoro’s mother recently disclosed his deteriorating health to a neighbour and close friend of the former footballer. In the emotional voice note, she reveals that the family was alerted to Ndoro’s condition by an unidentified woman believed to be staying with him in Durban, as they had not been in contact with him for several months.
She also confirmed that Ndoro’s diabetes had worsened, saying his sugar levels were dangerously low. She described the distressing state her son is in, explaining that his eyesight had been affected again and that he was struggling physically. She further expressed concern about her inability to afford to visit or bring him back to Zimbabwe for proper care.
Tendai Ndoro Hospitalised in South Africa
The emotional exchange reportedly began when the friend reached out to recover a US$150 balance from a US$300 loan he had extended to Ndoro last year. Despite partial repayment, the outstanding amount led the friend to raise the issue in a WhatsApp group with nearly 40 members, hoping to get the matter resolved.
Ndoro’s mother was said to be upset that such a private issue was discussed publicly, but responded with a heartfelt voice message revealing her son’s critical condition for the first time.

Ndoro’s Previous Health Struggles
The situation has since touched several members of the WhatsApp group, who have reportedly begun discussing the possibility of raising funds to help bring Ndoro back to Zimbabwe for better care and family support.
Ndoro, who also played for Mpumalanga Black Aces and Ajax Cape Town, has faced multiple health challenges over the years. In 2021, he was reported to have temporarily lost his sight due to complications linked to his diabetes, though he later recovered.
