Police Release Names of Victims Who Perished in Mahuwe and Mazowe Road Accidents

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has released the names of the victims who died in the tragic road traffic accidents in Mazowe and Mahuwe.

Nine people perished in the two separate crashes.

Separate Accidents Claim Lives on Mahuwe and Mazowe

The first accident occurred on 12 May 2025 at the 101-kilometre peg along the Mvurwi–Kanyemba Road in Mahuwe.

The second took place on 13 May 2025 at the 52-kilometre peg along the Harare–Mukumbura Road.

Police Release Names of Mahuwe and Mazowe Accident Victims

The Police has released a statement confirming the names of the victims who tragically lost their lives in the Mahuwe road traffic accident.

According to the police, the deceased were positively identified by their next of kin. The victims are listed as follows:

  • Gilbert Katyamakwara (50), a male adult of Chitauro Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.
  • Nelisa Majasi (08), a female juvenile of Chitauro Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.
  • Nevy Samunawu, a female adult of Chitauro Village, Chief Bepu Guruve.
  • Chiseche Mafuta (48), a female adult of Magaya Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.
  • Murambiwa Joyce (49, a female adult of Marumahoko Village, Chi Bepura, Guruve.

The Police also released the names of the victims who perished in the Mazowe road traffic accident. The deceased were identified by their next of kin as follows:

  • Future Chikudza (51), a male adult of Zimre Park, Harare
  • Tatenda Samatha Ngundu (29), a female adult of Munyarari Village, Zimunya, Mutare
  • Flosky Ngundu (five months), a male juvenile of Munyarari Village, Zimunya, Mutare
  • Anotida Denzel Mawadze (19), a male adult of Westley , Harare
  • Heather Mashiri (70), a female adult of South View, Harare.

The identity of the other victim, an adult female, is yet to be confirmed by next of kin.

Police Urge Motorists to Prioritise Road Safety and Obey Traffic Laws

In the statement, the police reiterated the importance of road safety. They urged all motorists to avoid speeding and exercise caution on the roads.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should prioritize road safety and avoid speeding. Above all, drivers are urged to abide by the country’s road rules and regulations to curb road accidents and safeguard human lives.”
