Man Lies To Twins Association About Wife Giving Birth To Quintuplets

A man is under fire after he lies to Twins Association about his wife giving birth to Quintuplets at Karanda Hospital.

The Twins Association of Zimbabwe (TAZ) fell victim to an elaborate scam this week. Association leaders Farai Lawyer Katonha and Tendai Mayor Katonha embarked on a 210km journey to Karanda Mission Hospital after receiving what turned out to be completely fabricated claims.

Man Lies About Wife Giving Birth To Quintuplets

A Harare municipal employee identifying himself as Valetta Nyamupfukudza contacted TAZ over the weekend with an extraordinary story. He claimed his 33-year-old wife Magret Rachel Kachave had just delivered quintuplets (three boys and two girls) at the remote hospital.

The man further alleged this was their second multiple birth, with twins already in Grade 4.

“We immediately mobilized support networks when we heard about this rare multiple birth,” explained the Katonha twins. “Several corporations and individuals had already pledged assistance through our channels.”

Hospital Authorities Debunk the Claims

Upon arrival at Karanda Hospital, the medical staff quickly disproved the story. Dr. Paul Thistle, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, confirmed no such birth occurred at their facility.

“Our maternity ward has no record of quintuplets – this would have been an unprecedented event for our hospital,” Dr. Thistle stated. “The last notable multiple birth we handled was three sets of triplets last year. We appreciate TAZ’s concern, but this appears to be a complete fabrication.”

Association Leaders Express Disappointment

The deceived officials expressed frustration about the wasted trip and resources.

“This wasn’t just about mileage – we had activated our entire support network,” they said. “The caller provided detailed false information including children’s names and school grades to make his story credible.”

TAZ emphasised they always verify claims before offering assistance.

“Perhaps the remote location made him think we wouldn’t check,” the leaders speculated. “But we have thorough verification processes for exactly this reason.”

Mystery Surrounds Motives

Authorities remain puzzled about the scammer’s true intentions.

“Maybe he desperately wanted twins or needed assistance,” the Katonhas pondered. “But deception is never the solution. We help many genuine cases, and this false report diverted resources from families in real need.”
