Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has extended a gift of a car and cash to veteran news reporter Rueben Barwe.

The businessman took to his Facebook to share the news that he was extending the gift of a car yet again but this time to a journalist who is well known in the Zimbabwean media.

In the post, Wicknell Chivayo opened by saying the reporter’s signature statement after reporting.

“Rrrrrrrrrueben Barweeeee , ZBC News… Harare!”…For over three decades, this has been a SIGNATURE sign-off by one of the most DECORATED veteran journalist and DISTINGUISHED news reporter that Zimbabwe has ever had.

Chivayo narrated how he was a young boy watching the ZBC TV 8pm waiting for the moment Barwe signs off after reporting.

I remember so vividly in 1987 when I was still in Grade 2, as a young boy watching ZBC TV News at 8pm on a “BLACK AND WHITE” screen 😂, ndaingo mirira that part ONLY when you sign off in STYLE

In comic style, he recollected how he earned the nickname Rueben after he snitched on his sisters for mischief. The businessman sang praises of how, for decades, the journalists have kept Zimbabweans informed during struggles, daily news, and celebrations.
