Zimbabwean Financial Expert Kudakwashe Mukushi Lands Top Role at ABSA Bank Botswana
Zimbabweans continue to shine across the globe, and Kudakwashe Mukushi is the latest to make his country proud. The seasoned financial executive has just been appointed as the new Executive Director and Finance Director of ABSA Bank Botswana Limited. His new role will officially begin on 1 June 2025.
Kudakwashe Mukushi Lands Top ABSA Bank Botswana Position
According to the bank’s board, Mukushi was chosen after a thorough and competitive recruitment process.
“Post a rigorous recruitment process, the company’s board of directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kudakwashe Mukushi as Finance Director and Executive Director of the Company with effect. His appointment as an Executive Director is subject to the conclusion of the favourable voting of shareholders at the Company’s 40th Annual General Meeting,” reads a notice by the Botswana Stock Exchange.
A Career Built on Financial Leadership
With over 23 years of experience in the finance industry, Mukushi has worked in various sectors including insurance, pensions, and asset management across Southern Africa. He’s held several high-ranking positions, most notably as Chief Financial Officer at large and publicly listed companies, where he oversaw finance, risk, and compliance departments.
Mukushi is also no stranger to boardrooms. He has served as a Non-Executive Director on several boards in Botswana, Malawi, and Zambia, often chairing key committees such as audit and investment. His boardroom influence has spanned banking, insurance, consulting, and asset management sectors.

Strong Academic and Professional Credentials
His qualifications are just as impressive. He is a CFA Charter holder and a Fellow of both the Association of Chartered Accountants and the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants. He also completed the prestigious Senior Executive Program for Africa at Harvard Business School and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Solusi University in Zimbabwe.
