Uebert Angel Comes Out Fighting For Chiwenga Amid Intensifying Succession Battle
Prophet Uebert Angel has publicly defended Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga amid growing tensions surrounding Zimbabwe’s political succession battle. The Presidential Envoy and Ambassador-at-Large delivered a strong message during a church sermon on Sunday, 1 November 2026, warning against what he described as attacks disguised as criticism.
Angel’s remarks come amid renewed public scrutiny of Chiwenga and his reported differences with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Uebert Angel Defends Constantino Chiwenga
According to TheNewsHawks, Angel delivered the remarks from the pulpit at his Spirit Embassy ministry. Video clips of the sermon subsequently circulated on social media.
He addressed criticism directed at Mnangagwa, Chiwenga and other political figures, drawing a distinction between legitimate criticism and personal attacks.
Angel said: “Contempt masquerading as criticism is diabolic and evil.”
He also questioned why people would publicly attack Chiwenga, arguing that Mnangagwa had appointed him Vice-President and that citizens should respect the decision.
Prophet Angel Takes Aim At Chiwenga’s Critics
Angel also appeared to take aim at people aligning themselves with Chiwenga’s critics. He specifically mentioned Marry Mubaiwa, Chiwenga’s former wife, following her recent interview in which she made scathing remarks about him.
Chiwenga and Mubaiwa have been involved in a prolonged and highly publicised legal battle following their separation. Their dispute has included allegations surrounding Chiwenga’s 2019 medical crisis, which Mubaiwa has previously contested.
The latest sermon also comes against the background of social media discussions surrounding an alleged death prophecy targeting the Vice-President.
Zimbabwe’s Political Succession Battle Intensifies
Angel’s intervention comes at a time of heightened political tensions involving Mnangagwa and his deputy. Their reported differences recently attracted attention following a public confrontation at the Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi.
The latest remarks add another prominent voice to the debate surrounding Chiwenga, whose political position continues to attract public attention as succession questions dominate Zimbabwe’s political landscape.
