Until now, details around the Monday morning heist had been scarce. But fresh information has confirmed that the four robbers, posing as clients, struck at Adam’s offices on Cameroon Street in Harare’s CBD around 10 am.
Adam, well-known in both football and business circles, owns the building where the robbery happened. The premises reportedly house several tenants who regularly make cash payments there—something the robbers clearly knew.
A man familiar with the scene suggested that the robbery was not random.
“It appears the robbers knew all this and had done their surveillance very well. You can even speculate that they had some inside information and knew when Mr Adam would be in the office and the chances that there was a lot of money at that time,” the man said.

Here’s How the Heist Happened
According to the source, the robbers entered under the pretence of paying rent. Moments later, Adam’s shouts for help pierced through the office block. He emerged from his office with a bloodied face, clearly attacked, but by that time, the gang had vanished, blending into the crowd or possibly escaping by car.
The eyewitness said the entire ordeal happened so smoothly that most people only realised what had happened after the businessman raised the alarm.
“They disguised themselves as people who wanted to pay their rentals, which is something that happens all the time at this office, and they then struck. It was all done very smoothly, and the only time that we heard that a robbery had taken place was when Mr Adam came out asking for help and for people to call the police. His face was bloodied, and it showed that he had been attacked, but by then the robbers had disappeared. I’m not sure whether they used a car or just slipped into the crowd,” the man added.
Adam, a key figure during Zimbabwe’s famed “Dream Team” era, has not commented publicly yet. Investigations into the case are ongoing, with the police still hunting for the suspects.
