Woman Who Fled Goromonzi Sangoma’s Shrine Naked Banned from Church
One of the three women who ran away naked from a sangoma’s shrine in Goromonzi over the weekend has now been banned from her church for seeking help from a traditional healer.
Pamela Bako was called before her church elders to explain why she went to Sekuru Sinaro, a n’anga, despite her church forbidding such practices.

After the story broke, a church member reached out to Pamela to confirm if she was the woman mentioned. Pamela admitted to her excommunication and partly explained why she turned to traditional healing against her church’s teachings.
She said the incident caught the attention of church members, but she had kept it to herself until the report.
“The story drew the attention of our church members. Inhamo inodariso handina wandakange ndaudza nezvekuendako asi ndinotenda kuti ndirimupenyu ini nemwana wangu. I was asked to explain this to my church leaders, and I went and explained, but nothing positive came out. I was ordered to stop attending church services. I need help,” said Pamela.

Personal Struggles and Family Pressure
Sources close to Pamela revealed that she had separated from her husband. The husband is upset that Pamela took their child to the sangoma. Pamela lives in Budiriro with the support of a kind volunteer.
“Pamela has a baby, she separated from her husband, and the husband has descended heavily on her for taking the child to a sangoma,” said the source.
Pamela, together with two others — Shillah Mabvudzi and a woman known only as Talent — were given herbs by Sekuru Sinaro on a mountain. They began feeling dizzy and were brought to a cleansing ceremony by the sangoma, who was accompanied by two male assistants.
Pamela revealed that she overheard the two aides planning something suspicious, which scared her so much that she fled the shrine naked.
