A dynamic opportunity has opened for a Business Development Manager (BDM) at a prominent organization seeking to expand its footprint and unlock new revenue streams. This role is strategically positioned to identify, evaluate, and capitalize on high-potential business opportunities across all Business Units (BUs) within the Group. The BDM will work cross-functionally, lead high-impact negotiations, and oversee the execution of new initiatives aligned with the Group’s long-term vision.

Role Overview

The BDM is responsible for managing and growing a robust sales pipeline, building compelling value propositions, and ensuring effective integration across departments. This position demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership qualities, keen market insight, and a commercial mindset focused on results and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opportunity Identification & Qualification:
    Proactively identify and prioritize growth opportunities across BUs to expand market reach and revenue.

  • Pipeline Management:
    Manage the business development pipeline end-to-end—tracking leads, engaging prospects, and driving conversion in partnership with key internal stakeholders.

  • Cross-Unit Coordination:
    Facilitate collaboration across departments for complex opportunities involving multiple business units, ensuring efficient resource use and alignment.

  • Value Proposition & Business Model Design:
    Partner with internal teams to design competitive customer value propositions and enter new markets through innovative models and partnerships.

  • Business Case Ownership:
    Lead the development and internal presentation of business cases for new initiatives, securing stakeholder buy-in and formal approvals.

  • Strategic Negotiation & Market Entry:
    Steer high-level negotiations and oversee the Group’s entry into new markets, ensuring strong positioning and regulatory alignment.

  • Synergy Integration:
    Identify synergies between new and existing business streams, enhancing overall value through complementary solutions.

  • Marketing & Distribution Alignment:
    Ensure that marketing and distribution strategies align with strategic objectives while maintaining brand governance and visibility.

  • Service & Partner Management:
    Define SLAs, oversee agreements with third-party service providers, and ensure consistent delivery against expectations.

  • Governance & Financial Control:
    Implement and maintain robust governance and financial oversight mechanisms for all new business ventures.

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management:
    Build and manage relationships with external stakeholders including partners, influencers, and key market players to inform strategy and execution.

  • Team Leadership & Innovation:
    Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and performance. Inspire teams across BUs to deliver excellence and support the Group’s growth agenda.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
    Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Business, Strategy, or a related field is essential.
    An MBA or equivalent qualification is an added advantage.

  • Experience:

    • Demonstrated success in business development, strategic sales, or partnerships—ideally within the financial services sector.

    • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.

    • Proven financial and commercial acumen, especially in business case preparation and investment evaluation.
