Jah Prayzah Fans Killed In Crash On Way To Canada Concert, Families Set Up GoFundMe Campaign To Repatriate Bodies

GoFundMe Launched For Jah Prayzah Fans Killed In Car Crash Ahead Of Concert

Two Zimbabweans based in Canada, Anotida Kimberly Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe, tragically lost their lives on 11 July 2025 in a fatal car crash while travelling to attend the Ndini Mukudzeyi concert by Zimbabwean superstar Jah Prayzah in Edmonton. Both were described as passionate music lovers who had been looking forward to the performance as a rare chance to celebrate their roots abroad.

Their grieving families have since launched GoFundMe campaigns to raise funds for the repatriation of the bodies to Zimbabwe and to cover funeral costs.

According to early reports, the vehicle they were travelling in failed to negotiate a sharp curve. The accident occurred just hours before Jah Prayzah was due to perform in Edmonton as part of the Canadian leg of his world tour.

“They both died on the spot,” read a widely shared post by Crime Watch Zimbabwe on X.

“Tragedy in Canada: Jah Prayzah fans die in car crash on their way to Ndini Mukudzeyi concert.”

“We want to bring him home to rest”

In an emotional appeal posted on GoFundMe, Tinashe Mazibiye, organiser of the campaign for Edmore Mafuwe, wrote:

“We are deeply saddened to share that Eddmore Mafuwe tragically passed away in a car accident on July 11. We are raising funds to return his body to Zimbabwe so his family can lay him to rest with dignity.”

“Any contribution, big or small, will help us bring Eddmore home.”

By 13 July, the campaign had raised $1,287 CAD (about R17,450) from 43 donations. The goal is to reach $15,000 CAD (around R203,500).

A separate fundraiser titled In Loving Memory of Anotida was launched by Aisher Magomo for Anotida Maziriri’s family.

“We are heartbroken to share that our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Anotida Kimberly Maziriri, tragically passed away in a car accident on the night of July 11th 2025,” the campaign page reads.

“Anotida was a bright light in our lives—kind, loving, and deeply cherished. This sudden loss has left our family devastated. We’re raising funds to help cover funeral costs and ease the financial burden during this difficult time.”

Friends and well-wishers in the diaspora have rallied in support, sharing both campaigns widely across social media.

Jah Prayzah yet to comment as world tour continues

Jah Prayzah, who has not yet commented publicly on the tragedy, launched the Ndini Mukudzeyi World Tour with a sold-out show in Harare on 3 May. The tour has since taken him to Wolverhampton in the UK on 25 May and to two scheduled shows in Canada—Edmonton on 11 July and Toronto on 12 July. The US leg of the tour was postponed due to visa delays, but additional performances are still expected in Japan, Australia, and South Africa.

The deaths of Anotida and Edmore have shaken Zimbabwean communities in Canada and around the world, with many paying tribute to the pair as proud Zimbabweans who supported their culture and music wherever they went.

A supporter commented on one of the fundraisers:

“They died doing what they loved. Going to see Jah Prayzah perform wasn’t just entertainment—it was a moment of connection, of pride, of home.”

The families continue to appeal for donations and prayers as they face the painful journey ahead.
