“We’ve confirmed the complete destruction of the orphanage’s infrastructure, including living quarters, educational materials, and food supplies,” Marongwe stated.

Initial reports indicate the fire originated when a resident accidentally ignited clothing while handling a candle within a storage area. The flames rapidly engulfed the wooden structure, leaving the 70-year-old institution in ashes within minutes.

Many ZImbabweans are relieved that there were no fatal casualties and that the damage was only to the building and other things that were inside.  They are calling for the officials to give the children better lighting methods which are not candles.

The Ministry is promised to help rebuild and repair the damaged orphanage so that the children living there will not be displaced.
