Ruwa Teen, 14, Raped After Step Mother Encourages Relationship

A 14-year-old Form 2 student from Ruwa was raped by a man she met at a bar — a bar she was taken to by her stepmother, police have confirmed.

The teenager had gone out drinking with her stepmother when she met Clive Sibanda, aged 21. During the night, Sibanda proposed love to the girl. Shockingly, the teen told police that her stepmother encouraged her to accept the proposal.

“Police arrested a Ruwa man for raping a minor child aged 14,” said Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza speaking to H-Metro.

“The complainant has since been taken to hospital for medical examinations.”

Stepmother Urged Her To Accept Proposal

The three drank alcohol together until about 9pm. Clive then drove the pair back to their home. When they arrived, the girl’s father became furious and demanded they return to where they had spent the evening.

“Her father exploded in rage and ordered them to return where they had spent part of the night,” reported H-Metro.

The stepmother then called Sibanda, who came back and took them to the same bar.

Raped In The Same Room As Stepmother

The teenager and her stepmother spent the night in a room at the bar. During the night, Clive allegedly raped the girl once — without using protection — while her stepmother was in the same room.

“The stepmother slept in a room with the student and Clive raped her once without protection,” reported H-Metro.

The following morning, the two women returned home around 9am. The stepmother reportedly lied to her husband, saying they had slept at her friend Chelsea’s house.

But later, the girl broke down and told her aunt what had happened. The matter was immediately reported, leading to Sibanda’s arrest.
