Abdeslam Ouaddou Hails Orlando Pirates’ Fighting Spirit After Narrow Win Over Siwelele

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou praised his side’s determination after they battled to a narrow 1-0 win over Siwelele FC in Tuesday night’s Betway Premiership clash.

The result marked another step forward for the Buccaneers, who are balancing league duties with success in the MTN8 and the start of their CAF Champions League campaign.

Appollis Secures All Three Points

Midfielder Oswin Appollis proved decisive in Bloemfontein, netting the only goal of the contest to hand Pirates a valuable away victory.

The win extended the Sea Robbers’ momentum in what has been a demanding run of fixtures.

Coach Reflects on a Tough Encounter

Ouaddou admitted the performance was not flawless but applauded the squad for their courage.

“Like I told you, we knew that against this kind of teams that are looking for points that it will be a very tough game, it’s what we had. I cannot say that we played great football, but sometimes it’s like that,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV.

“I believe they played very brave with very big personality, big character and in football there are some games like that and we will have some games like that so we take three points.”

Fatigue and Squad Depth Highlighted

With matches coming in quick succession, Ouaddou commended his players for rising to the challenge.

“We came here in Bloemfontein for the Champions League, and we won and now the second game we win again. It was not easy because we played three days after so I congratulate the boys,” he said.

The coach also celebrated the impact of his substitutes.

“Like I told you, I’m a very happy coach, I told that I have a fantastic dressing room, all the guys who come in the pitch they have the ambition to change the game,” he added.

“They are fantastic, I call them impact players, it’s why I call them impact players because they are here to change the game and since few games they did and I hope they will continue like that.”
