A Kezi woman found herself being slapped with a 10 year jail sentence after she set her husband ablaze killing him over infidelity issues.
The 42 year old woman, Sindiaso Ndlovu who comes from Maphisa Kezi was arraigned before Bulawayo High Court accused of killing her husband. Ndlovu was convicted by the court and sentenced to 10 years in prison for murder as defined in Section 47 of the Criminal law Act Chapter 9:23.
Circumstances That Led To Ndlovu’s Arrest
According to a post made on X by the National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe, in 2019 on the 19th of October Sindiso set her husband Busani Ncube on fire with the intention of killing him. The married couple were said to have had a misunderstanding and a fight in their bedroom because of the husband’s infidelity.

Ndlovu was angry and felt scorned as she asked her husband of his extra-marital affairs. The accused person then locked their bedroom door with them inside and poured petrol on the now-deceased with the intention of burning him. Ndlovu then set Busani Ncube alight while he was doused in petrol.
Woman arrested for setting husband ablaze
The police were called and the matter was reported leading to the arrest of the accused person. Her husband sustained burns and injuries and was rushed to Maphisa District Hospital. They however later referred him to United Bulawayo Hospital for further treatment but he succumbed to his injuries and died three months later on the 8th of January 2020.
Court’s ruling and verdict
Ndlovu who was in remand facing attempted murder charges had her charges changed to murder when her husband died. The case was in trial at the High Court for four years and today, Ndlovu was slapped with a 10 year jail sentence for her crimes.

The police keeps urging the public to refrain from the use of violence when they get into misunderstandings at home. Churches, society and other social organizations are being called to educate the masses on ways to deal with misunderstandings besides resorting to violence.
